Duties: Welcomes patients by greeting them. Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room. Helps them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment. Arranges examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment. Verifies patient information by interviewing patient. Reviews and/or records medical history. Takes vital signs. Confirms purpose of visit or treatment. Meaningful use documentation. Supports patient care delivery by helping health care providers during examinations. Disposes of contaminated supplies. Sterilizes medical instruments. Administers medications on the premises. Authorizes drug refills as directed. Telephones prescriptions to pharmacies. Prepares patients for CT. Removes sutures. Changes dressings. Educates patients by providing medication and diet information and instructions. Answers questions. Completes records by recording patient examination, treatment, and test results, utilizing knowledge in ICD-10 and CPT codes. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
