The bacteria is easily spread when an infected individual secretes droplets from their mouth or nose. The droplets can be spread when a person talks, laughs, sneezes or coughs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Is It Important To Treat Strep Throat?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Because strep throat is caused by bacteria, your provider will likely treat it with antibiotics. Once you begin taking antibiotics, your symptoms should disappear within ten days. Even if your symptoms disappear earlier, you should take your full cycle of antibiotics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While you may notice your symptoms abating without treatment, seeking medical intervention for strep throat is wise. Left untreated, the group A strep bacteria can spread to other parts of your body and <a href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/health\/diseases\/4602-strep-throat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cause complications<\/a> including but not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Ear or <a href=\"https:\/\/alpineent.com\/allergist\/sinusitis\/\">sinus infections<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Abscesses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scarlet fever<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Invasive streptococcal infection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rheumatic fever<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Can You Manage Your Symptoms?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A few symptom management options available in your home include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Gargle saltwater<\/strong>. Saltwater is effective at reducing inflammation in the throat. Mix \u00bc teaspoon of table salt with 8 ounces of warm water and gargle as long as possible before spitting the mixture into the sink.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Honey tea<\/strong>. Honey tea can have a soothing effect on the throat.
