Dr. Shokar is an Army veteran. As a Blackhawk helicopter crew chief and mechanic, she became well acquainted with noise and how noise exposure can impact hearing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Shokar earned her Doctor of Audiology from Central Michigan University and her Bachelor of Science in Audiology &amp; Speech-Language Sciences from the University of Northern Colorado. Her externship was at the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, where she focused on adult diagnostics, tinnitus management and vestibular evaluations.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When she is not at work, Dr. Shokar enjoys snowboarding, ice hockey, hiking, reading, motorcycle rides and spending time with her husband.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Shokar has been familiar with the world of hearing loss from an early age because of her younger brother&#8217;s hearing loss.
